Posty of Love Letter by Sir Stanley Spencer

Beautiful painting card from Sir Stanley Spencer, he is English painter. His most ambitious work was the consequence of his Great War travails: a cycle of 19 paintings for the Sandham Memorial Chapel which took five years to complete.

During Spencer's lifetime it was his landscapes that were in demand. His dealer would press him to turn out more. Many of his best landscapes are views of his beloved Cookham. Thank you to Pamela from Canada, who sent this lovely card with beautiful quote of love.

Posty of Mechelen ~ Belgium

The town of Mechelen (in French : Malines) is situated half-way between Brussels and Antwerp. It has about 75.000 inhabitants.

The landmark of Mechelen is the huge St. Rumbold's tower (in Dutch : St. Romboutstoren). This impressive late-medieval tower can be seen from far away. Standing close to the tower it is immediately clear that the tower was designed to become very high. The construction was stopped in the 16th century because the town of Mechelen had financial problems.
Thank you for Katrientje, it is really beautiful card.

Posty of Children in Dutch Costume

This is really cute, children in Dutch Costume. The symbol of Dutch are both cap and wooden shoes.

The most famous part of the Dutch costume is the wooden shoes. In the past, leather shoes were a luxury that only the rich could afford. These days, 3 million pairs of clogs are still produced in Holland annually. Nowadays, clogs are mostly worn in the countryside, as they are warmer and dryer than rubber boots.

You can tell where people came from by the shape and look of the clogs. Not too long ago clogs were approved for industrial use by European Community regulations, something Dutch farmers have known for centuries of course! Wooden shoes are therefore not only abundant in souvenir shops, but are also still worn by many farmers and bulb growers as cheap, long-lasting and save working shoes.

Thank to Rickster, who sent this so cute one to me with absolutely stunning handwriting.

Posty of Algarve, Portugal ~ Europe Sunniest Spot

Going to the south of Portugal, on the south-west tip of Europe... to the Algarve, Europe's sunniest spot: a unique jewel where the finest beaches and weather on the continent meet traditional historic Portugal.

Albufeira started out at least 2,000 years ago as a small, fortified town which the Romans called Baltrum. Eight centuries later the Moors renamed it Al-Buhera. The Moors turned it into a prosperous port trading with North Africa. The Knights of Santiago led the Christian re-conquest of the town in 1250, but without its trade links Albufeira fell upon hard times and they lasted for hundreds of years.

Thanks to Helena who sent this beautiful card to me, I love it.

In the vicinity of Jiuufen, Jinguasi is a gold and copper mining town embraced by mountains in three directions. Facing the unique two-colored sea along the northern coast, the scenery is tranquil and exquisite. Now the Gold Ecological Park preserves the old mining area.

Posty of Panicale "Castello Medievale"

Postcard from Italy, little square Umberto I of Panicale, located in Umbria Italia. I got from Alexi. Thank you very much, I've never been to Italy as yet, and would like to visit there one day.

Panicale, as it is the case for most of the villages of the region, still maintains a medieval aspect due typically to the remains of the old town-walls and the fortified doors.

To whom, however, artistic works are more interesting, good reasons to visit in Panicale the church of S. Sebastiano, are offered by two frescoes of the Perugino: "Martyrdom of St. Sebastiano" and "Incoronazione di Maria" as well as by the beautiful facade of the Collegiata, which locates in St. Michele square.
